Baby, Remember My Name: How To Listen Better And Retain Names ⚡️
And some other stuff it's better not to forget

SHE’S ALWAYS A WOMAN TO ME
October 18 is World Menopause Day 🎉, designed to raise awareness and break down taboos around this very pivotal life stage experienced by 50 percent of our population but discussed by only a fraction of that. Lame. Perhaps it’s partly due to the unsavory branding which could really use a refresh- if midlife is really the new adolescence, we should be throwing menopause parties like it’s a Sweet 16, who’s with me?
Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) suffered from some bad PR in 2002 that it’s only now recovering from, and new companies like Naomi Watts’ Stripes Beauty (special offer: get their bestselling Vag of Honor serum with purchases over $75 today only!) and Alloy Health have arrived in time to provide a huge population of women suffering from the 40+ symptoms of perimenopause and menopause with solutions that actually work. Know what else works? Compassion. Maybe just give all your ladies a hug today.
OIL CHANGE
Love dining out but curious to know more about what’s going into your favorite burrito before it goes into you? There’s an app for that. Seed Oil Scout is helping health-conscious food lovers in cities everywhere navigate the increasing use of refined ingredients and industrial oils. While there are mixed medical opinions on just how “toxic” seed oils are, there’s little debate that moderation is key and extra virgin olive oil still reigns supreme for its minimal processing and high Omega-3s. Greek and Italian restaurants who pride themselves on their extra virgin olive oil are usually a safer bet, but fast-casual and chain restaurants don’t always offer such transparency, so this is just one more tool for your kit. Download it, check it out, and prolly swipe left on Chipotle (sorry/not sorry). 🌯😝
ANGEL OF THE MORNING
If you ask me (and you kinda are), everyone is entitled to a good night of sleep, and it shouldn’t take a $100K/year longevity clinic or a laundry list of pharmaceuticals to get there. More often than not, simple is still best. With that, my current sleep gadget obsession (and no, they’re not paying me to be obsessed with this):
Loftie Clock: This “alarm” clock has changed everything for me. Most exciting: the clock face doesn’t just dim, it goes COMPLETELY dark, which makes insomnia clockwatching impossible (a good thing, if you’ve been paying attention) and doesn’t interfere with an otherwise properly darkened room. It also has a pre-wakeup setting that gives you a gentle nudge before snoozing itself for 9 minutes and then officially waking you up with a menu of gentle sounds specifically designed to NOT jolt you into your day. This is a WIN. Use the code ALLTOOWELL for 15% off through the end of October. BONUS: Now through Sunday, all orders over $125 will also get their (adorable) and best selling Night Lights with purchase!
HERE’S A TIP, MAKE THE CHANGE
If you are part of the cohort honoring World Menopause Day, there’s a good chance you are also interested in any tips that help improve your memory, amiright?#BrainFogIsReal. Me personally, I can remember what I wore on the first day of fourth grade and every commercial jingle from 1979-90, but it takes me a minimum of three times to remember someone’s name when I first meet them. Until now!
Grand master of memory Kevin Horsley believes “there’s no such thing as a good or bad memory for names, there’s only a good or bad memory strategy.” The strategy includes repetition (“Hi Taylor, I'm Erica”), association and imagery (Taylor is wearing a well-tailored shirt) and using your Notes app for more than a grocery list. Keep notes, and hey- actually look at them until they’re committed to memory.
Happy Friday, keep trying to remember this mantra for celebrating Menopause Day: You ain’t seen the best of me yet. 🫶🏻
