The back half looks good for women's health, not so much for Pop-Tarts.

PUSHING PAUSE
Fun fact: Did you know that current OB/GYN med school curricula include five or less menopause lectures per year? And 71% of these programs offer TWO or less lectures. Pretty shocking, considering half the population experiences menopause and given average lifespans, we spend almost half of our lives in it. While it’s been thrilling to see the recent groundswell of products and services dedicated to just this chapter of our lives, now that WE are getting better access to these resources, it’s about damn time that the doctors are getting it, too. So hats off to the California lawmakers who introduced Assembly Bill 432 , which would require mandatory menopause coursework for any practitioners with more than 25% of patients under age 65. Bravo! Literally the only bill I’m interested in reading about this week. 👀

OUTLAWED COUNTRY
This is big news, y’all. Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a law last week requiring food companies to disclose certain artificial colors and additives in their ingredients with a label stating “WARNING: This product contains an ingredient that is not recommended for human consumption by the appropriate authority in Australia, Canada, the European Union, or the United Kingdom.” Among the 44 additives on the list are bleached flour, red dye 40 and yellow 5, and companies using them must add “high-contrast labels in a prominent and reasonably visible spot.”
Whether you agree with the legislation or not, you might be interested in some of the products coming under fire. Pop-Tarts and Flaming Hot Cheetos are among the obvious, but the below list of seemingly “healthy” everyday foods use butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), a common preservative and potential endocrine-disrupting carcinogen:
Jennie-O Italian seasoned ground turkey
Trident chewing gum
Wheat Thins
Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds
GREATEST HITS, VOLUME II
July 2 marked the exact middle of 2025, and social media is ablaze with motivational posts like this one, about treating this midpoint as a reset, and I’m here for it. 🙋🏻♀️
What can you do differently or better in to create new opportunity and healthier habits in the back half of the year? Since there’s likely no storage space left for absorbing new info, particularly as we head into the long weekend, let’s revisit some foundational basics that you already know but you need to hear again.
Take a short walk after every meal, your heart and waistline will thank you.
Lift heavy things often, for bone density and longevity. And a lil’ bragging.
Take the stairs, it’s called an exercise snack and it’s always snacktime.
Drink water. If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated.
Put down your f%*king phone and make plans to see people you love.
And I would be remiss to mention a tune-up without mentioning my book, Tuning Up. It’s a cute addition to your coffee table (or your powder room – no judgments), it’ll help you stay on top of these quick and easy health tweaks, and it’s a real easy read, pinky swear. 🤙🏻 Pictures n’ everything!
Happy and safe weekend, all. We’ve got each other, and that’s a lot. Turn it up loud. 🫶🏻
